The Brookfield/Newbold/Meadows year 3/4 Mini Tennis competition took place in the Sports Hall at Newbold school. Teams from Old Hall, Highfield Hall, Wigley and Mary Swanwick were represented. Mary Swanwick actually managed to bring 2 teams! All the players started very nervously and the first round of matches were all drawn. In the second round of games many of the players started to play with a little more confidence and very soon there was some really good Tennis being played. The eventual winners were Old Hall, with Wigley close behind as runners up. Both teams will now go through to the area final which is being hosted by Chesterfield Tennis Club at Hawksley Avenue on 23 June.
Many thanks to the young leaders from Newbold and to all the staff who helped on each court to keep score and help the children to play the game and most of all enjoy themselves.
